There’s an increasing number of bogus agents operating on Social Media platforms especially Facebook.

Real Estate Agents Licensing Board Compliance and Monitoring Officer Vinal Singh says bogus agents are using various tactics to falsely advertise properties – ripping off customers.

Singh says last month REALB forwarded three cases, suspected to be bogus agents to Police for further investigation.

“Our Compliance team at REALB go through all the social media web sites on daily basis whereby we identify some bogus agents using bogus names and advertising multiple properties which is illegal under the act.”

Singh says the team at REALB is working to eradicate bogus agents from operating illegally with potential buyers and sellers of properties in Fiji.

He adds they’ve got a strategy where the REALB staff are deployed after hours and in the weekends to continue surveillance on any illegal activities.
