ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Muskingum Soil & Water Conservation District wants more people to get outside more often, so they’re taking to social media to engage people around the area in a nature challenge.

“The goal is to get community members outside and into the sunshine and out in nature. We’re going to be offering daily prizes, we’re going to do this all through our social media, Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District.” says April Lovejoy, from the District.

Lovejoy tells WHIZ News her organization wants people in the community to spend five minutes each day outside for twenty-one days. She points to studies which indicate a habit is often formed after twenty-one days of activity.

“We are going to post pictures of a daily challenge. The idea is that you’re going to go out and you’re going to find something and you’re going to post a picture of your five minutes in nature.” she adds.

Lovejoy says a daily prize will be awarded.
