Udhagamandalam: Nilgiris collector J Innocent Divya on Friday strongly condemned the allegations made against her by anonymous posts on social media.
Speaking at a press meet in the town, Divya said, “There are a few posts doing rounds on social media in the past one week only to tarnish my name and the high office, I am holding. Giving a religion colour to me is a wild allegation and I strongly condemn these alleged allegations posted on social media by anti-social elements.”
She said, “With the district collector being the district magistrate, the anonymous posts are nothing but questioning the high office, which cannot be allowed at any cost.”
One of the posts alleged that Good Shepherd International School in Ooty had paid Rs 10 crore as bribe to the district administration for obtaining a building license for 5,000 sq feet.
Reacting to this allegation, Divya said, “The school had obtained a sanction of building license for 2 lakh sq feet from HACA and that too not during my period.”
“The block development officer concerned has been deputed to inspect the construction area in the school and find out whether the construction is in line with the approval,” Divya added.
“When everything is going fair and just in the Nilgiris, some forces are trying to create communal disturbances in the Nilgiris,” she added.
“In this connection, a complaint has been lodged. Once the culprit is identified, a personal defamation case will also be slapped against the miscreant,” the collector said.
