Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting early Thursday morning that left a teen injured.

Deputies responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of Indian Creek Drive around 1 a.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies said the shooting stemmed from an argument that took place on social media.

When deputies arrived they found 18-year-old Krystal Footman suffering from a gunshot wound, the release states. Footman was shot twice in the arm and abdomen, and two vehicles were also struck by gunfire, according to the release.

Deputies say Footman received a message from an unidentified female telling her to go outside to fight. When the teen refused to go outside, shots were fired in her direction striking her.

Lt. Sean Swain, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said in a statement that Footman was taken by medical personal to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
