Back in February this year, the company had announced Android Pie (Go Edition) update for Nokia 2.1. To recall, Nokia 2.1 was launched in May last year along with Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1. The handset is an Android One smartphone and offers a 4,100mAh battery. It comes with a starting price of Rs 5,649 in India.
The Nokia 2.1 smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The screen comes with anti-fingerprint coating. It is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The handset offers an internal storage of 8GB which may be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card support. For imaging duties, the smartphone boasts of a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. There is also an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Nokia 2.1 houses a 4100mAh battery. Connectivity options available on the device are 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Blue-Copper, Blue-Silver and Grey-Silver are its colour variants.
A recent report by Counterpoint Research claimed that HMD Global has topped the list when it comes to rolling out smartphone OS updates. The handset maker trumped some of the biggest brands in the world including Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung and more as it was quicker than others in bringing nearly all its smartphones to the latest Android OS, Android 9 Pie. The report adds that HMD Global was able to bring 96% of all its Nokia smartphones sold in Q3 2018 to Android Pie. It also became the fastest brand to reach this mark.
