EHS student arrested following social media threat | Crime

An Emerald High School student was arrested following reports they posted a threatening message about another school on Instagram, according to a news release.

On Tuesday, law enforcement and Greenwood County School District 50 officials were alerted to a social media threat by an EHS student, said the release, which was sent at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday. The student posted pictures of Westview Middle School and a toy gun with a threatening message on Instagram.

After investigating, officers identified and questioned the student, and the student was charged and will be disciplined in accordance with the Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.
