BARNESVILLE, Minn. (Valley News Live) As Potato Days is officially over, signaling the unofficial end of the summer, the Barnesville Police Department is poking fun at the event.
“Good morning Barnesville. Still rubbing sleep out of our eyes here. Anyone else have a potato hangover? Judging by the street dance last night I know a bunch of y’all have real hangovers,” read a Facebook post Sunday on its page.
The event, which Valley News Live co-sponsored, began Friday afternoon and ended Saturday.
There were a few incidents at Potato Days, including a foot chase and a few car crash reports, according to police.
Yet, overall police said they were happy by the event and thanked everyone that attended and were respectful.

In summation, Potato Days wasn’t so bad. BPD had quite a few crash reports, a handful of citations, a foot pursuit, a couple of impaired drivers, one assault, some one way trips to the Clay County Bed and Breakfast, countless “Go home, you’ve had enough”….BUUUUT no one died that we know of, so bully for you Barnesville.
This event is enjoyed by many, loathed by some, but needed by quite a few. Many of our local organizations that generously give year round depend on the funds that Potato Days bring. The hard work that is put in by the Potato Days board to make this happen doesn’t go unnoticed, and we are happy to work alongside these fine folks.
Thank you all who came to our fair city and enjoyed all the wonderful things it has to offer. Thank you to those that came that were good guests and respectful while here.
Have a great Sunday everyone!
Go out, be well, and do good!-764
