Gamescom 2019 is officially underway, and it’s brought a ton of exciting news and announcements for gaming fans. Not only did we get a look at a number of new and upcoming titles during the Gamescom: Opening Night Live presentation, but some of the industry’s biggest publishers also hosted their own livestream broadcasts ahead of the expo, including Nintendo.
Just before Gamescom proper began, Nintendo aired an indie-focused “Indie World” presentation, which spotlighted an array of unique and eye-catching titles coming to Nintendo Switch (and other platforms) over the next few months. In all, the company showcased two dozen indie games on the way to its hybrid system this year and in early 2020, from anticipated sequels like Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince and Risk of Rain 2 to beautiful, classic-style adventures like Eastward and the Zelda-inspired Sparklite.
We’ve rounded up all of the new indie games Nintendo showcased during Gamescom 2019 below, giving you a quick look at some of the exciting titles that are in the pipeline for Switch. You can also catch up on all the biggest news from the Indie World presentation in our Nintendo Gamescom Showcase recap, and be sure to also check out our Inside Xbox Gamescom recap, Gamescom Stadia Connect recap, and Gamescom: Opening Night Live recap for all the biggest news from this year’s show.
That wasn’t all Nintendo had to show during Gamescom, however. The company also shared more than 30 minutes of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening footage, giving us an extended look at the highly anticipated Zelda remake. Developer Game Freak also shared a new clip of Pokemon Sword and Shield, giving viewers a tour of one of the charming towns they’ll visit in the upcoming Switch games.
