PS4 on Verge of Outselling Wii and PS1

Sony announced earlier worldwide shipment figures for the PlayStation 4 have hit 100 million units as of June 30, 2019. Sony shipped 3.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles during the first quarter of fiscal year 2019 and forecasts 15 million units shipped for the entire fiscal year ending March 31, 2020.

The PS4 is now one of just four consoles to have hit the 100 million sales mark. The other consoles are the PS2 with 157.68 million units sold, the PS1 with 102.49 million units sold and the Wii with 101.63 million units sold.

Shipment figures for the PS4 are on track to reach lifetime figures of the Wii and PS1 in the current quarter. The PS4 is now just 1.63 million units behind the Wii and 2.49 million units behind the PS1. Sony shipped 3.9 million PS4 consoles for the quarter ending September 30, 2018.
