Denis Suarez posts emotional social media message as potential Arsenal move nears

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has sent a message of thanks to his followers and supporters amid rumours of a move to Arsenal.

The former Manchester City player seemed to be overwhelmed by the response as he turned 25.

A product of the Celta Vigo academy, he left La Liga for the Etihad Stadium in 2011 and lasted two seasons before he returned to Spain to join Barcelona.

He later left on loan to play for Unai Emery at Sevilla before signing for Villarreal on a permanent basis with a clause that allowed the Catalans to sign him for a second time in 2016.

Suarez has so far made one appearance for Spain, in 2016, and has been tipped to join Arsenal as an alternative to Ever Banega in the January transfer window.

Aaron Ramsey is set to leave the Emirates on a free transfer in the summer and the Barcelona player would replace the Welshman ahead of his departure.

In a post on his official Twitter account, he sent a message to fans: “25 years today, but the same kid as always.

“Thanks to everyone that you have remembered me on such a special day. You are incredible!”

Emery was asked about Suarez in his post-match press conference after Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup.

He described the midfielder as a winger when asked about his transfer plans.

“A winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position,” he said about the business he is looking for the club to complete in the market.

“[Suarez] was playing in his career, and with me also, as a right or left winger.”
